Voice
As we increase physical awareness, we release the true qualities of the voice, whether we are speaking or singing.
I’ve been teaching singers, ‘non-singers’ and public speakers since 1990. Through a physical approach that ‘starts where you are’, I’ll help you discover, recover and develop your voice, whatever your starting point.
I am currently teaching live sessions and can also work online. Each session is tailored to suit the needs of the individual.
A series of six singing sessions in central York.

“Incredibly uplifting for body and soul..” “ I felt amazing after…” “Just lovely to ‘escape’ and relax…loved the songs..”
My songs, for choirs of all ages have been published by Faber, Sing Up, A&C Black and Banks Music Publications. I also lead group songwriting projects.
“I went to Em with no experience whatsoever, wanting to sing the songs I’ve started writing. She gave me the confidence to explore my abilities, my voice. She believed in me. She shared her expertise, explaining where the voice comes from and the importance of posture, relaxation; she tailored the lessons to my needs. Em helped me to not judge myself; she encouraged me to be kind to myself , giving me the confidence to continue my journey to become a singer-song writer.” Tami Avinoam
I welcome enquiries around mentoring or tuition.
I’ve been leading workshops for singers and ‘non-singers’ since 1990. Each workshop is designed specifically to meet the needs of participants.
I work with established choirs, community groups, professional singers, choral projects, teachers’ choirs, workplace teams and groups of any size, age or ability.
